Helping Students Shine in Their Court Reporting Journey

Apply for the NCRF AHRE Student Scholarship—where four deserving students will be selected to shine and receive support for their future in court reporting. This scholarship was created by NCRF Angel, Allison Hall, RDR, CRR, CRI, owner of Allison Hall Reporting Education.

Scholarship requirements

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply for the NCRF AHRE Shine Student Scholarship, students must meet the criteria below:

  • Be a current NCRA student member;
  • Be enrolled in a stenographic court reporting program;
  • Must have passed at least one of the program’s Q&A or literary tests at a minimum of 160 wpm;
  • Have a grade point average of at least a 3.5 overall based on a 4.0 standard or equivalent; academic transcripts will be requested;
  • Possess all the qualities exemplified by a professional court reporter, including professional attitude, demeanor, dress, and motivation as confirmed in a letter of recommendation.

How to apply

Important: File formatting requirements
REQUIRED: File names must include the student's last name and first name. Files without the student’s name in the file name will not be reviewed.
Format: LastName_FirstName_DocumentType
Examples: Smith_Jordan_Essay.pdf, Smith_Jordan_Transcript.pdf

 

  • Complete the application form below (available when nominations open).
  • Instructor verification form (required): Instructor/supervisor must complete the Instructor Verification Form (PDF) and email it to ncrfoundation@ncra.org.
  • A copy of the student's most recent academic transcript;
  • A letter of recommendation from an instructor or intern supervisor;
  • An essay of 300-500 words on the topic:
    Technology, training, and personal discipline all play vital roles in court reporting. What strategies or tools do you rely on (or plan to rely on) to succeed in your training, and how will these prepare you for the challenges of a career in court reporting? (Please use examples.)
