The State of Connecticut, Workers' Compensation Commission (WCC) is currently recruiting for a Hearing Reporter 2 (WCC) for our Middletown office. We are a quasi-judicial agency responsible for the adjudication of disputed workers' compensation claims. This position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Discover the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of people on a daily basis and to work closely with the Commissioners to facilitate the formal hearing process. Our Mission: The WCC administers the workers’ compensation laws of the State of Connecticut with the ultimate goal of ensuring that workers injured on the job receive prompt payment of lost work time benefits and attendant medical expenses. To this end, the Commission facilitates voluntary agreements, adjudicates disputes, makes findings and awards, hears and rules on appeals, and closes out cases through full and final stipulated settlements. In this role you will be: -accountable for performing the most complex tasks in making verbatim records and transcripts of complex and difficult formal hearings and coordinating office activities; -required to produce transcripts on their own time, earning income as defined by State statute for such transcripts in addition to the base salary.
