Why should I reinstate my exam history?
Candidates may wish to reinstate exam history that has expired. Review the Exam Retention Policy for more information on why exam history/mandatory education history expires. If you have exam history and/or mandatory education history that has expired, reinstating it allows you one additional three-year opportunity to use that history and/or education towards earning the certification without having to retake those requirements.
How do I apply for Exam History Reinstatement?
Complete the Exam History Reinstatement form via the member portal or download the PDF form and pay the non-refundable fee: ($300 members / $350 non-members). Once the form and application fee are processed, your exam history and/or mandatory education history is valid for three years from the date of the fee being processed. You will receive an email confirming the new expiration date for using any previously passed yet expired exam history or mandatory education.
When should I apply for Exam History Reinstatement?
To maximize your opportunities to fulfill all your certification requirements, you should consider waiting until you have completed any unfilled requirements before applying for Exam History Reinstatement. Once you apply for the Exam History Reinstatement, you will have three years from the processing date of your application and fee to complete all requirements for your certification using any passed exam history. Keep in mind that Written Knowledge Tests (WKTs) or mandatory education history older than seven years old MUST be retaken.
As an example: You have expired passed history: RPR Lit 2/4/2010, RPR JC 5/16/2015 and RPR WKT 10/1/17. You need to pass only your RPR Testimony to complete your RPR. Once you have taken and passed the RPR Testimony, then apply for Exam History Reinstatement to activate your expired passed exam history and thus complete all requirements for your RPR.
Note: The WKT would only be reinstated if it was passed less than seven years ago, which is different than the above example. If the WKT was passed more than seven years ago, you would need to take and pass the RPR Testimony and the RPR WKT, and then apply for Exam History Reinstatement. More examples here.
Why is NCRA putting an expiration date on my exam history?
The Exam Retention Policy ensures that candidates are highly likely to maintain their skills and knowledge while completing all requirements and will be more likely to pass all requirements for certifications.
Does the Exam History Reinstatement Policy affect my exam history for a certification I already hold?
No. The Exam History Reinstatement Policy only applies to exam history that is earned towards a certification that is not fully completed.
Can I use exam history from a previous expired certification?
No. If exam history was used to achieve a certification, it cannot be reused. If you held a certification that lapsed, you must follow the appropriate recertification policy for that certification.
How does the Exam History Reinstatement Policy affect my existing passed exam history?
Exams that have been passed that have previously expired are eligible for reinstatement, but the Exam History Reinstatement Policy may be invoked only once by an individual candidate. If you have passed any portion of the requirements for a certification (for example: your RPR Literary [11/2/2012] and RPR WKT [10/8/2014]), then those components, whether specific test legs or educational sessions, would apply to the Exam History Reinstatement Policy. WKT and educational exam history are only eligible for reinstatement if they are less than seven years old.

Does the Exam History Reinstatement Policy apply to Skills Tests? Written Knowledge Tests? CLVS Production Exam? CLVS Mandatory Workshop? CRC Workshop? CRI Education?
Yes. The Exam History Reinstatement Policy applies to all requirements as follows:
- All Skills Tests
- All Written Knowledge Tests (less than seven years from the date of the official pass date)
- The CLVS Production Exam (less than seven years from the date of the official pass date)
- The CLVS Mandatory Workshop (less than seven years from the date of the official pass date)
- The CRC Workshop (less than seven years from the date of the official pass date)
- The CRI Education (less than seven years from the date of the official pass date)
Why are the Written Knowledge Tests, CLVS Production Exam, CLVS Mandatory Workshop, CRC Workshop, and CRI Education only eligible if they were passed less than seven years ago?
It was decided that these requirements can only be reinstated if they were passed less than seven years ago due to the frequency of the evolving content. For example, an RPR Written Knowledge Test passed in 2005 would have outdated technology information compared to the current RPR Written Knowledge Test. Passing these requirements more than seven years ago does not reflect that a candidate has the current level of knowledge expected to earn the credential.
If I am not a current member, am I still eligible for the Exam History Reinstatement Policy?
Yes. The Exam History Reinstatement Policy is available to anyone with NCRA passed exam history. Once you have earned the credential, you will need to join and maintain NCRA membership and earn the required number of CEUs to keep your credentials.
How do I get my certification once I have completed all requirements?
Candidates who complete all of the requirements for their certification prior to the Exam History Reinstatement Policy three-year extended deadline date are responsible for holding the appropriate NCRA membership and notifying NCRA within 30 days of passing the last requirement for their certification to have their record updated to reflect any new certification earned through the Exam History Reinstatement Policy.
What if I was impacted by the Exam Retention Policy and have already begun retesting prior to the Exam History Reinstatement Policy being announced?
Candidates who were impacted by the Exam Retention Policy and began retesting for any expired test history prior to the Exam History Reinstatement Policy’s implementation may be eligible to have those test fees applied towards the Exam History Reinstatement Policy fees. What does the Exam History Reinstatement fee cover?
The Exam History Reinstatement fee covers the costs of maintaining and reinstating former exam history/mandatory education and administrative costs for processing and managing the policy.
