8:30 – 11 a.m. NCRA Annual Business Meeting

Take an active role in your Association. The Annual Business Meeting of the Association provides each member the opportunity to directly participate in the governance of NCRA. Hear reports from NCRA leaders, elect new Officers and Directors, vote on bylaws amendments and other important issues, and contribute to vital Association business. You do not have to be registered for the Convention to attend. Eligible voting members will check in and receive a ballot and information starting at 8 a.m.

Note: Members need to cast their votes regarding bylaws amendments via their phones, tablets, or computers. Free WiFi is available in the hotel lobby. Voting begins two hours after the close of the Annual Business Meeting.

Certified Realtime Captioner (CRC) Workshop: Day 1

(Day 1+2= 1.2 CEUs) - requires registration

Prove you’re on the cutting edge. Join our presenters as they guide you on your journey to become a Certified Realtime Captioner. This two-day workshop will help you explore the growing number of opportunities available to realtime captioners. Day one offers a general overview of captioning, transitioning from legal reporting, and dictionary maintenance and briefs. Day two covers prepping for captioning, troubleshooting, professional standards, and reviewing various streaming platforms available to captioners.

Vendor Training Workshop (0.7 CEU) - separate registration is required for these workshops.

Learn about new features in CATalyst and CaseViewNet and take a deep dive into building skills for improved realtime translation accuracy and capability. In addition to all of the exciting new functions and enhancements in Version 19, we'll help you make sure your options are set properly for your individual needs; review Case Prep and how to have a Dictionary Builder wordlist dictated to you; make Brief It easier to use on the fly; learn how to send output to CARTView (with or without pre-scripting); take advantage of Live Suggestions; four different ways to define on the fly, and select conflicts in realtime. Equipment is not required, but if you choose to bring your laptop, or a laptop and writer, we recommend that you have the latest version of CATalyst installed.

CRR Boot Camp (0.3 CEU) - requires registration
Presenter:  Kathryn Sweeney, FAPR, RMR, CRR

Think you are ready to take the CRR exam? Join Kathryn Sweeney as she guides you through the process with helpful tips and tricks on how to pass the exam. She has you covered on dictionary management, software settings, equipment requirements, the new NCRA online testing procedures, test file submission, and probably most importantly - what NOT to worry about when taking this exam. Note: Please bring your laptop and steno equipment to this session for maximum results!

National Realtime Contest - requires registration

Test your realtime skills against some of the best in the industry. The National Realtime Contest consists of two legs, each five minutes in length: straight matter at 220 wpm and a two-voice dictation at 225 wpm. To qualify for a leg, contestants must have an accuracy score of 95 percent or better; the best combined score wins the championship.  To enter, you must be a RMR, RDR, CRR, or CRR and an NCRA member in good standing. Qualifiers can earn 0.25 PDC per leg once every three-year cycle. Realtime Contest results will be revealed at Saturday's Awards Luncheon.

Registration for the 2018 Realtime Contest closes on July 23; onsite registration is not permitted for this event. We completely sold out well before the registration deadline for 2017 and spots for 2018 are filling up fast.  Register ASAP to reserve your chance to compete! 

2 – 5 p.m.  National Committee of State Associations (NCSA) Meeting 

Take the pulse of NCRA’s state affiliates. NCSA

serves as the liaison between NCRA and its affiliated associations. NCSA delegates and alternates discuss resolutions as well as issues affecting court reporters across the nation. Registration opens at 1:15 p.m. for delegates and alternates. Observers are welcome at 2 p.m.
