2019 NCRA Convention & Expo - FAQs



If I am registered for convention, can I go into the Expo Hall?

Yes, all registered attendees can access the Expo Hall. This includes any ala carte ticket holders, guest tickets, workshop, vendor training, contest and all types of registration,: Full, Networking, Student, One Day, Saturday/Sunday, Student, and Speakers. 

Am I eligible for the "In the Block" breakfast in the Expo Hall?

All attendees who have an NCRA Convention & Expo registration and who are listed on the Hyatt Regency registration list, are entitled to the "In the Block" breakfast.

Is there free WiFi in the meeting space?

Free WiFi is available for attendees. Open your list of available networks and select NCRA. When prompted, enter password ncraconvention (case-sensitive).  You are now connected!

What if I have already registered and want to add or delete a session?

Call 800-272-6272 or email meetings@ncra.org, and we can help you with adding or deleting a session. After one change, an administrative fee of $30 will be included. NOTE: No registration changes can be made after July 15, 2019. Changes can be made on site for an additional fee.

If I have a full registration, can I attend the Teachers Workshop?

Yes, you can attend the Teachers Workshop with a full registration.

Do you have a payment plan for attending the 2019 NCRA Convention & Expo?

Unfortunately, we do not have a payment plan for attending Convention.

What are the additional taxes for one night in a standard room?

These taxes are approximately an additional 15.5 percent fee per room per night.

Does the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center require a deposit for the reservation?

No deposit is required when making a reservation, but they do require a credit card to confirm the reservation. Nothing will be charged to the card until the guest arrives for the Convention or if a guest cancels within the hotel's standard cancellation window, which is two days prior to arrival. Attendees can use a different credit card upon arrival to the hotel.

Can I get a discount on registration for the Convention if I am a student?

NCRA offers a considerable discount for student registrations. NCRA Convention & Expo full registration is $650; student registration is $150. Along with NCRA’s subsidies for students, many NCRA members support students with individual sponsorship donations upon registration, which enables NCRA to provide the discounted rate of $150.

Is there a sponsorship program for student registrations?

NCRA members have the opportunity to support the students by including an additional donation with their Convention registration. These sponsorship dollars go toward the cost of the student registration that enables us to provide a discounted rate of $150.

I am opting for the full registration, but I do not want to attend the social events. Can I take those off and reduce the registration fee?

Yes, you can attend workshops without purchasing a full registration. If registering online, on the “Select Main Registration” page, choose option #6, and choose additional Convention opportunities.

If I only want to attend the concurrent sessions without the social events, do I need to register for the full package?

Yes, you would have to register for a full package, or you can opt for a 1-Day Registration for either Friday or Saturday.

May I transfer my 2019 NCRA Convention & Expo registration?

Yes. Transfers of staff registrations within the same client and partner organizations are welcome. If you need to substitute one registrant for another, please email meetings@ncra.org with any transfer requests in advance of the Convention.

What forms of payment do you accept?

NCRA accepts AMEX, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover Cards. To pay by credit card, select the "Check Out" button. You also have the option to pay via check or purchase order.

If I am unable to attend the 2019 NCRA Convention & Expo, can I receive a refund for my registration fee?

Yes, NCRA has a cancellation policy located on the registration form and website. We are unable to provide refunds for no-shows. However, you can transfer your registration to another member of your organization if you are unable to attend the Convention.

What if I have special needs or dietary requests?

Please email us at meetings@ncra.org with a description of your dietary or special requests, so NCRA can make an effort to accommodate your request.

What is the dress code for the event?

We want you to be comfortable so you can enjoy your Convention experience. Therefore, business casual attire is strongly encouraged. We suggest bringing a sweater or jacket for the conference as sometimes the meeting room temperatures can fluctuate.

Is there a mobile app for this event?

Yes. The NCRA Event Mobile App is the perfect companion to stay connected with NCRA events. Information about accessing the Event Mobile App will be provided closer to the event date. We recommend downloading the app prior to arriving to Convention so you can be sure to have an optimum Wi-Fi connection.If  you are downloading the app on site, please go to an area where there is a strong Wi-Fi connection.


Workshops and auxiliary events

Will the CRI Certification Workshop be offered at the 2019 NCRA Convention & Expo?

No, the CRI orientation and exam will not be offered this year at Convention. Members may check back on the website for future dates.

Do I need to bring my machine for the Certified Realtime Captioner (CRC) workshop?

Yes, we do recommend that attendees bring their machines for hands-on exercises.

If I attend the CRC workshop, can I attend the Premier Session and Keynote?

No, but you can purchase a registration package to attend the Premier Session and Keynote on Friday.

Do I need to bring my computer to take the CRC exam? No, you do not need a computer.

It is a Written Knowledge Test on paper. Please bring a pen or pencil.

Are you serving food during day one of the CRC workshop?

No, lunch will be on your own. There is time for lunch built into the schedule on day one of the CRC Workshop.

Can an NCRA retired member participate in the National Speed Contest?

Yes, NCRA retired members who want to sign up and participate in the National Speed Contest may do so.



When will my credits show on my transcript?

CEUs will post to your transcript approximately 2-3 weeks after Convention.

If I attend the CRR Boot Camp, will I earn CEUs?

Yes, you will receive 0.3 CEU for attending the CRR Boot Camp.

How many CEUs can I earn for attending the 2019 NCRA Convention & Expo?

You can earn up to 1.175 CEUs.

You can also earn an additional 0.7 CEUs for attending the Vendor Workshops.
