Primarily assigned to work for District Associate Judge Kim Riley in Marshalltown. May be required to work for any Judicial Officer in the Second Judicial District, travel required. Starting salary dependent upon relevant courtroom experience ($55,307 - $85,758). Takes court testimony and proceedings by shorthand reporting methods. Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request. Makes verbatim typed record of testimony and proceedings as required. Prepares transcripts, performs general office work and provides substantial clerical support for the Court. Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings. Electronic document filing is required in all Iowa counties, so a high level of computer proficiency is essential. Performs related work as determined by the supervising judicial officer or the Chief Judge or his designee. Specific primary assignment(s) as designated by the District Court Administrator. Graduation from a School of Court Reporting is required with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law. Must be certified as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters as defined in Iowa Court Rule 46.2 or become board certified within one year of hire as per Iowa Code 602.6603(4).
