Court Reporter - Municipal Courts

Under direction, is responsible for performing stenographic work in the Municipal Court Department which requires recording of verbatim court proceedings. Records examination, testimony, judicial opinions, judge's charge to jury, judgment or sentence of court, or other proceedings by machine shorthand. Working conditions are primarily inside a court room or an office environment. Exercises no supervision. Essential Job Functions: Records court proceedings with stenographic equipment. Transcribes court proceedings. Logs cases taken on stenographic machine. May read portions of testimony during court proceedings, at judge's request. Categorizes, files and maintains stenography notes and exhibits. Prepares jury charges and prepares for appeals. Maintains organized filing system of all work. Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
