Preserving Memories of American Heroes, Member Review

Preserving Memories of American Heroes

Sunday, August 11, 10:15 – 11:45 a.m., by Bob Patrick, Tracy Dunlap, Jennifer Sati, and Melissa Keute

The seminar on Preserving Memories of American Heroes was amazing and very touching. We learned that every day many of American veterans die, and each time we lose a veteran, we lose a little more of our knowledge of America’s past. The Veterans History Project of the U.S. Library of Congress American Folklife Center collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations can hear directly from those who served and better understand the realities of war.

We were shown an actual interview with a veteran and learned about this program and how we can participate by conducting our own interviews. What a privilege to have been a part of this seminar.
