For Providers: General Guidelines for Professional Practice
The NCRA Board charged the CART Task Force with the task of creating ethical guidelines for CART providers. The Task Force’s proposal was submitted to the Committee on Professional Ethics. As a result of that review, the guidelines recognize that the reporters in legal and nonlegal situations have very different responsibilities. In March 2001, the NCRA Board of Directors approved General Guidelines for Professional Practice for CART providers. Section IV covers the CART provider in a nonlegal setting and Section III covers the CART provider in a legal setting.
The Guidelines for Professional Practice are goals toward which every NCRA member should strive. Members are urged to comply with the Guidelines, although it should be noted that these guidelines do not exhaust the moral and ethical considerations with which the member should conform, but it merely provides the framework for the practice of reporting.
