Login Problems
A lot of the time problems being able to sign in to the NCRA website or the NCRA Forum (or other web sites) can be attributed to the settings in your individual web browser. This gets more problematic with the advent of so many browser add-ons.
There are a number of things that you can do on your own that we will illustrate below. Beyond that it is nearly impossible for us to troubleshoot these issues, so if you still can't access please consult with someone that you know that may have greater computer knowledge and can personally assist you.
1.) Are you a current member?
If the answer is no, then you will not be able to view content behind NCRA's member wall regardless of your site login information.
2.) Are you logging on to the NCRA site? The Forum, LegalSpan (E-Seminars), and EducationDirector (Article Tests) are seperate sites!
LegalSpan (E-Seminars) and EducationDirector (Article Tests) are completely different systems and not tied to your main NCRA account and login that you use to access the main site. If you are accessing them for the first time you will have to register to create a unique username and password. The NCRA Forum now uses the same login as the man NCRA website.
3.) Do you have the correct login information?
- The login information for the NCRA site is your ID number followed by your password. If you do not remember your password, please email msic@ncrahq.org or click “I don’t remember my password” and your information will be emailed to you.
- Please remember to not place a lead "0" in front of your ID number. For example, if your ID is 012345, your login number would be only 12345.
4.) I have the correct login and still get an error.
Try opening the NCRA site in Internet Explorer instead of another browser. NCRA’s member-wall software is Microsoft based and sometimes has difficulty with other browser types like Firefox or Opera.
5.) I have the correct login & I’m using IE and still get an error.
Sometimes with prolonged use the "cookies" that save the login information for your browser will become corrupted and will not allow you to login or will not carry the authorization to other pages. Similarly your cache, where your browser stores web pages, images, and other downloaded content, will sometimes force you to view old and outdated pages and not "refresh" your view of a site.
The best way to solve both these issues is to clear both the cookies and your cache. A warning here however. Once you clear your cookies you will most likely have to resign on to sites where as before you would be able to access automatically.
Again please note that the steps outlined here are for Internet Explorer. Other browsers have similar steps to take to clear cookies and the cache.
- Once your browser is open, click the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
- Make sure the General tab is selected.
- Under "Browsing History" click "Delete"
- In the new window, click "Delete Files" in the Temporary Internet Files section and "Delete Cookies" in the Cookies section.
- Then press "Close" and then "OK."
- You may have to close your browser or in some cases reboot to save the new settings.
- Alternatively, clear your cache for just the current page you're visiting. Press and hold [Ctrl] on your keyboard, then Press [F5] or click on the Refresh button (square button on the toolbar with opposite-facing arrows).

6.) I have the correct login, I’m using IE, and I cleared my cache. I still can't get in.
There is a possibility that your personal security settings may be preventing you from getting behind the member wall. Try logging on from another computer to see if it is your login or just your specific computer. Also, you can modify your computer's security settings by doing the following:
- Click on "Tools" on the upper left browser menu.
- Select "Internet Options" from the pull-down menu that will now display.
- Select the "Security" tab in the pop-up window that will now display.
- If not already selected, set the security setting to "Medium."
- Now select the "Privacy" tab and when that displays be sure it is set to "Medium" as well.
- Once you have done this you can press "OK" at the bottom of the browser window.
- You may have to close your browser or in some cases reboot to save the new settings.
7.) I have tried all of the above and I still can’t get in.
Contact a computer professional. As we have stated before it is extremely difficult to troubleshoot browser and computer issues long distance. This is doubly so as our experience is not in the technical arena.
So if you are still having trouble accessing our site (and others) we would suggest you talk to someone that can be right there and take a look at the computer and its settings. This can either be a techie friend, aquaintance or even a computer professional. It might even help to stop at your local computer store and talk to the people there -- they may very well give you few ideas and pointers that might help address your problems.
