These following tips came from Rick Greenspan’s and Sue Terry’s presentation.

For mobile hot spots, use Sierra Wireless Elevate 4G LTE to increase your cellphone’s data connection.

Connectify “routerless router” is for Windows 7 only but can be used on a Mac if you run Parallels or Fusion.  You can set up your own router without an Internet connection with up to five connections.  

Use the Join.me app for iPad and iPhone or any computer.  It lets the viewer see your screen.  This is a popular use for having clients review realtime on their iPads. This is only a viewer; they cannot edit or keep the transcript.  But they can take screen shots. 

According to Rick Greenspan, the iPad is “the greatest invention since the salad bar.”  With apps such as iCVN on (Stenograph) or Myview - (Eclipse), you can send a realtime feed to an iPad. 

Use a bamboo stylus for use on iPad or touch screen device.  “Duo” is a pen and stylus.  

iPad apps for proofreading:  Send your transcript to iPad for you to proofread and make changes with:  

iAnnotate, PDF Pen or Goodreader.  

Cloud services:  Dropbox (a share folder), Carbonite, Evernote.  

Scanner apps:  Scanner Pro for iPad or iPhone ComScanner.  

Wireless and portable scanners:  Doxie Go, NeatReceipts, or NeatDesk

Heavy duty scanning:  Fujitsu Scansnaps.  

For backing up, consider Seagate GoFlex Wireless Wireless streaming storage for your tablet. It lets you take your media library on-the-go and stream it wirelessly to your iPad, Android tablets, and smartphones. 

Clickfree Carbonite is an automatic online backup.   

For Power, try i.Sound Portable Power Max for iPod, iPad, iPad2, iPhone, DROID, and BlackBerry; it allows you to charge up to 5 USB electronics at a time (like iPhone, iPod, Blackberry, Droid, etc.) It also adds 30 extra hours of usage to iPad. Charges any device with a maximum current requirement of 2.4 Amps
