Make the promise
As you know, 2013 marks the 10th Anniversary of National Court Reporters Foundation’s official partnership with the Veterans History Project (VHP) at the Library of Congress. We are so proud of that! With the help of so many NCRA members, we’ve coordinated the completion and submission of more than 2,875 veterans’ histories to the Library of Congress for inclusion in its VHP archives.
Here’s where we really need your help. In order to celebrate this milestone, NCRF is once again urging you to volunteer your time and talent to help us reach our goal of transcribing 3,000 veterans’ oral histories by May 31, 2013. If you feel you have the time, especially over the next five weeks, please volunteer to either interview a family member, colleague, or neighbor, who is a wartime veteran and transcribe their story for the VHP, or you can contact NCRF to request a veteran’s pre-recorded interview to transcribe.
Registered court reporters are eligible to receive FREE 0.25 Professional Development Credits (PDC) for each transcription completed and can earn a maximum of 1.0 PDCs for transcribing four veterans’ oral histories during your three-year certification cycle. And students can earn a FREE NCRA membership in return for transcribing two histories!
If you can help NCRF meet its goal, please contact Beth Kilker, NCRF’s Oral Histories Project Coordinator, at 800/272-6272, ext. 174, or e-mail her to Make the Promise.
