Minnesota, Illinois, New York, and Georgia proclaim Court Reporting and Captioning Week
Mark Dayton, the governor of Minnesota, proclaimed February 17-26 as Minnesota Court Reporting and Captioning Week in recognition of the important task set to court reporters and captioners in the daily lives of its citizens.
Similarly, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn issued a similar proclamation, according to a Stenograph press release.
In addition, state legislators in New York and Georgia issued proclamations in recognition of the skill of court reporters and captioners. New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos noted the contributions of court reporters and captioners to society in a proclamation from the New York Senate. Senators Joshua McKoon, Bill Cowsert, Jesse Stone, and Curt Thompson of the Georgia legislature also created a resolution recognizing February 17-23 as Court Reporting as Captioning Week.
The Dauphin County, Pa., Court of Common Pleas President Judge Todd A. Hoover also took the time to recognize the contributions of court reporters and captioners during the week.
