Hearing Health Caucus holds hearing screening
On March 16, the Congressional Hearing Health Caucus held an educational event on Capitol Hill with co-chairs Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) in attendance. The Hearing Health Caucus sponsored a hearing screening, which allowed members of Congress, Congressional staffers, members of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, and other interested individuals to receive a free hearing test. After the screening, the caucus held a technology event for people to learn more about technology that benefits and assists the deaf and hard of hearing. Click here to continue reading.
The Hearing Health Caucus is sponsored by Rep. Latham and Rep. McCarthy, two integral players in furthering awareness of issues pertaining to the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities to the U.S. Congress. On February 8, the caucus held its first event, which featured a briefing on "How the Military and Veterans Administration Are Handling the Surge in Hearing Loss/Tinnitus Cases Related to Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq," which NCRA also sponsored and attended.
NCRA strongly supports the Congressional Hearing Health Caucus and will continue to attend briefings and meet with members of Congress to ensure that CART providers and closed captioners are represented on Capitol Hill. Please contact NCRA's Government Relations Department with any questions.
