Supreme Court of Canada Rejects Cameras in the Courtroom
February 23, 2011
The Supreme Court of Canada has upheld a Quebec court regulation that limits the use of cameras and recording equipment within courthouses.
The Quebec court rule restricts camera use to specific areas of the courthouse, and bars media outlets from broadcasting the audio recordings of court proceedings. Media outlets challenged this, and the Supreme Court’s decision in Canadian Broadcasting Corp. v. Canada (Attorney General) was released Friday.
