This two-part webinar is designed to address, inform, and question the general Ethics behind gifting in litigation firms --- from vendors to law firms and the resulting implications.  How are court reporters affected and what is the reporter's responsibility in this?  The NCRA has made its stance very clear through the Ethics First initiative and this course will outline how this position reflects the current trends in business and some of the country's top corporations.   

This course encourages question and introspection.  Who is most impacted --is it the client?  What are the results of such practices – from a firm/client position, from an ethical standpoint, from a firm's business standards and principles, and from the burgeoning tax responsibilities?  Just what should the court reporter's ethical position be in all this?  In a day of high-level business leaders, politicians, and officials paying a premium price for not enforcing an ethical position concerning vendor gifting and over-the-top incentives, this topic is very important.  It is designed to answer many questions while leaving the attendee with many thoughts and concerns for continuing introspection.  Court Reporters are officers of the court and should be viewed in such a manner.

This webinar will be presented by two individuals  -- one, a working court reporter who is also an owner of an Ethics First reporting firm and by a member of her team who comes to this industry as a non-reporter.  To both – ethics are key.

Speakers:

Donna Henderson, CCR, CMRS, formed Henderson & Associates Court Reporters, Inc., in 1996 based on client requests which reflected the Ethics First position which the NCRA holds as our standard of today.  She is involved with many of the legal associations supporting various charities. She has worked on proposed legislation regarding Ethics for Court Reporters and continues that endeavor today. 

Michael Woolley works with Henderson & Associates Court Reporters, Inc.  He has been in the litigation support sector for ten years serving in multiple capacities including as a regional general manager for a national firm.  Michael comes to litigation support from a corporate development background where he has headed national sales, corporate training, human resources consulting, and strategic planning.  He is involved in the community in which he resides and has presented locally, regionally and nationally on behalf of non-profit entities.
