The Evolution of NCRA's Certification Program
NCRA began its court reporting program certification process in the 1970s. Since that time, NCRA has approved more than 100 schools nationwide, standardizing school curriculums to better prepare students for the challenges presented by the court reporting and captioning professions.
For information about the General Requirements and Minimum Standards for Court Reporting Education Programs please view the adobe acrobat file in the link above.
Use the Initial Application form when making application to begin the process for NCRA certification of your institution's court reporting program. Note that a transcript from one of your graduates meeting NCRA's Standards must be included with the application, along with a catalog, and a check for $100.
Continue Your School's Certified Court Reporting Program:
Download and complete CASE Annual Report form only if you have an NCRA-certified court reporting program. The Council on Approved Student Education (CASE) requires the Annual Report to be completed each fall using the enrollment as of November 1 each year in the certified court reporting program.
As part of the NCRA-certification process, a self-study is completed when a court reporting program is up for re-evaluation. Approval is effective for not more than five years. Another reason for completing a self-study is for court reporting programs which have recently submitted an application and are new to the system. In both instances, the process will be initiated by NCRA headquarters.
If you have any questions about these reports and forms, please email our Education and School Development staff or call us 1-800-272-6272. You will find the data sheet for all faculty under DATASHEET and course syllabi are to contain the specific information listed on the COURSE SYLLABI form. Those forms are to be completed for only new faculty and new courses.
Send the completed Annual Report to: Lynette Eggers, National Court Reporters Association, 8224 Old Courthouse Road, Vienna, VA 22182-38008
